Transactions Analyst Job Opening in New York, New york - The Transactions Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of a large volume of enrollment and billing-related transactions for a large retail energy portfolio.
The Analyst will split their time between processing transactions in our enrollment/billing system and performing analysis to identify and solve issues pertaining to new and retention sales, cancellations, bad-debt customers, commissions, billing, and adjustments. Solid Excel skills are a must; knowledge of v-lookup, pivot table, and if-statements is necessary.
As the Analyst gains knowledge of the system and markets, they will contribute to or commence their own software improvement, process automation, and new market setup projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Data entry and processing ? uploading sales files, processing some retention sales by hand, preparing weekly commission reports to partners and monthly reports to the Call Center
Spot checking rejected enrollments, check the accuracy of new sales and retentions entered by our Call Center
Corresponding with utilities to solve any enrollment, rejection, or cancellation issues
Mining large data sets for errors or missing data fields
Serving as backup for tracking and updating of software improvements tickets related to position
Identifying trends in billing, reporting, enrollment processes, etc. that can be improved
As needed, assisting with designing new reports, automating repeat functions, and researching new markets as we grow
Required Knowledge/Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following:
1 ? 3 years? full-time work experience or strong part-time work and internship experience in an analytical role
Intermediate ? advanced Excel skills: v-lookup and pivot tables will be used constantly
Experience handling sales data and ability to find and address issues therein with QA or Call Center Management
Basic knowledge of Accounting terminology
Experience working with billing data
Willingness to perform some routine, repeat tasks
Ability to find and understand manuals and Tariffs explaining utility rules
Curiosity to figure things out, attention to detail to spot errors and trends, patience to work on long-term projects
Interest in and/or ability to understand energy-related rules, ability to understand all portions of a utility bill
