Senior Staff Accountant Job Opening in Minneapolis, Minnesota - POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial statements to owners and management and to provide complex accounting support. Customer satisfaction will be achieved by satisfying the company?s need to have property management related accounting information organized, processed and distributed in an accurate and timely manner. This position will also provide accounting support with new initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Statement Preparation, Review, and Analysis: Responsible for the monthly preparation and review of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts and accountable for their accuracy. Reconciles control accounts to subsidiary documentation. Through review and analysis, accountable for creating general ledger adjusting journal entries at month end and publishes financial statements and budget variance reports for internal use. Preparation of monthly variance analysis of Financial Statements to Budget and Prior Year.
Financial : Preparation and reconciliation of year end work papers for tax returns and audits. Participation in the process including preparation of cash flow and balance sheet budgets. Will also work with corporate departments to complete and maintain operational forecasts/budgets. Other projects include: job cost reports, escrow refunds and lender requests.
Business Support: Work closely with business partners to ensure compliance with SOPs and serve as a liaison from an accounting standpoint. Provide additional support for new users. Responsible for Business line accounting support, analysis and reporting
Organizational Management: Applies knowledge of accounting to evaluate established controls and standardized procedures, identifies opportunities for improvements and alternatives to improve efficiencies within department, and assists in developing and making recommendation to management when appropriate.
Customer Service: Maintains relationship with Corporate, Field and Accounting staff to address information reporting needs. Prepares accounting schedules routinely and as requested by internal management or as needed for external reporting requirements.
Strategic Partnership: Expected to provide input and strategic solutions to assist business partners in driving revenue, profit, and quality.
Self/Workload Management: Responsible and accountable for effective self/workload management. Ability to multi-task and see responsibilities to completion under strict deadlines. Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills. Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment. Adheres and upholds all CSM Standard Operating Procedures.
File Maintenance: Complies with identified standards for the organization and retention of month end/year end records maintained by the department.
Talent Development : Serves as a leader in the department. Mentors and assists with development of Staff Accountants in the department.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Requires a bachelor?s degree in accounting.
: 5+ years related accounting experience handling complex issues and problems; prefer some hospitality, retail or real estate industry experience but not required. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles. Must have computer proficiency using spreadsheet and word processing software. Prefer knowledge of current software applications used by the CSM PC network (Timberline accounting software and TM1). Ability to multitask and see responsibilities to completion under strict deadlines.
