Primary Support Staff Job Opening in Kansas City, Missouri - We are offering a $250 HIRE IN BONUS: $50 after Orientation, $100 after receiving Specialized Trainings', $100 after 6 months of Successful Employment. Benefits available.
The Primary Support Staff works in the homes of people receiving Individualized Supported Living services. He/she works in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to ensure satisfactory implementation of the Service Plan. The Primary Support Staff provides support services to persons served and coordinates the day to day activities as outlined within the Service Plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities : Supervises direct support staff within a service delivery unit(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Participates in person centered plan meetings when possible.
Provides input in to performance evaluations for direct support staff in their designated service delivery unit.
Participates in interviewing process and makes recommendation as to the hiring/firing of personnel.
Ensures completed forms and needed paperwork are maintained in the Client records.
Trains staff in each individuals medical needs, personal preferences, etc.
Ensures that each staff has read the individual?s Service Plan and signed that they have done so, initially and as the plan is amended.
Assures that staff are knowledgeable of individuals medications and any potential side effects.
Oversees daily documentation to include shift summaries and outcome logs.
Reviews physical condition of facility to ensure health and safety standards are met.
Ensures safety kits including First Aid Kit, ?Grab and Go? Kit, Blood Borne Pathogen Kit and Emergency Preparedness Kit are present and complete.
Reviews MARS for signatures, errors, etc regularly.
Ensures that AOCS financial procedures are followed.
Completes event reports in accordance with state guidelines.
Schedules staff or covers shift for personnel who are sick or must be absent from the work site.
Participates in the development of positive behavioral supports if needed.
Available to direct support staff regarding any questions or concerns.
Provides on-call services as designated by the Regional Director.
Ensures all medical needs, including eye and physical exams are completed as required.
Maintains direct relationship with all medical and psychological providers for the person served.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED with 1 year experience in the field of developmental disabilities.
Experience and knowledge with supporting people with a wide range of disabilities.
Demonstrated skills in supervising staff and making independent decisions.
Demonstrated ability to judge what is an emergency and act accordingly.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must have appropriate, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a valid driver?s license.
Must have a reliable means of phone communication.
Works with the management team to include the Regional Director and Program Coordinator, to guarantee the provision of quality services.
Works in the home or community with assigned individuals, as designated by the Program Coordinator or the Regional Director, and consults with the management team regarding any changes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands vary depending on the designated service delivery units.
Must be physically able to perform CPR and First Aid.
May be required to assist with physical transfers or lifting, depending on the needed supports of the clients.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Three positive references.
Must pass a background check to include criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect.
Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals, support staff, families, people needing supports and other community members.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Must have appropriate, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a valid driver?s license.
Must have a reliable means of phone communication
