Head Cook / Sous Chef Job Opening in asheville, North Carolina - Head Cook / Sous Chef Eagle's Nest Camp is an 80-year-old coed camp located in the lush mountains of Western North Carolina. Eagle's Nest provides a strong, nurturing community where campers ages 6-17 are treated with respect, honor and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1 - 3 week long sessions which emphasizes the wilderness, arts and community. Teens can participate in extended wilderness treks that include hiking the John Muir Trail, climbing in the North East, receiving Wilderness First Responder certification and hiking 100 miles on the Appalachian Trail. Our mission is experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character. Eagle's Nest is seeking a sous chef to work in our whole foods kitchen for the summer of 2011. The sous chef position entails executive chef responsibilities such as menu planning, food orders, inspections, etc. Housing is provided. At Eagle's Nest we believe that nutritious foods are a cornerstone to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Campers dine on fresh meats and dairy products, and natural and organically grown produce such as garden-fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, unrefined sugar, honey and olive oil. We also cater for vegetarian and vegan diets. Experience and familiarity with kitchen is preferred but not required.
