AmeriCorps Vista Summer Associates Positions Job Opening in rochester, New York - AmeriCorps Vista Summer Associates Positions Foodlink has two positions available through the VISTA Summer Associates program, which offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in a community through a VISTA project for 8 weeks during the summer. The positions are grant-funded through Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), a federal agency. Foodlink?s VISTA Summer Associates? work will focus on enhancing Foodlink?s Summer Food Service Program. Responsibilities include: - Assist in the implementation, expansion and quality of Foodlink?s Summer Food Service Program; create and enhance curriculum and enrichment activities for participating youth; recruit volunteers; support day-to-day operations of the SFSP I - Increase access to nutritious food to Summer Food Service Program participants and families through farmers markets and community gardens by expanding outreach at sites about these benefits; conduct nutrition and gardening related activities at sites to promote healthier eating; help strengthen local community gardening efforts and local, sustainable agriculture efforts by connecting with Summer Meals Sites. Summer Associate positions commence on June 22, and end on August 16, . Benefits include: - A living allowance for the time served, which is equal to the amount received by full-year members serving in the same area - A $1,174.60 Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award from the National Service Trust, OR a $125/month summer stipend to be paid after successful completion of the program - Associates are eligible for Worker's Compensation under the Federal Employee Compensation and Federal Tort Claims Acts. - The Income Disregard provisions apply to any Associate who receives government benefits. Terms and Conditions include: - No outside employment - Enrollment in classes greater than 6 credit hours not permitted - Governed by the Hatch Act and other legislative pieces applicable to AmeriCorps VISTA members pertaining to political, labor and religious activities - Must work a minimum of 40 hours per week for entire duration of program, whether eight or ten week term; VISTA members do not determine their length of participation in the program.
