The Pension Fund of the Christian Church is seeking an exceptional and qualified Team Member with attention to detail to serve as Assistant Treasurer . BACKGROUND
Pension Fund currently has assets in excess of $3.0 Billion. In service to our members, Pension Fund partners with employers to:
Offer financially secure retirement savings options and education for pastors and lay employees of the Stone-Campbell movement, including financial support of surviving family members and provisions for those who become disabled;
Invest and manage prudently the resources of our members - maximizing returns, minimizing costs and assuming the burden of market risk;
Engage members with compassionate care and personalized attention;
Steward the assets and programs of Ministerial Relief and Assistance; and
Utilize current and compliant
Our products include a defined benefit pension with death and disability benefits; a 403b tax- deferred account (TD); Roth IRA; Traditional IRA; Benefit Accumulation Account (BA) (similar to a money market account); and Medicare Supplemental plans. We are one of over a hundred IRS approved non-bank trustees in the US.
Pension Fund members are part of the Stone-Campbell movement--including but not limited to-- the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Christian Churches and Church of Christ, Church of Christ / Disciples of Christ International, and Churches of Christ (acapella) in the United States. We operate a Retirement Contribution Account (RCA) plan in Canada and a Pension Plan in Puerto Rico.
APPROACH
Our ideal candidate will be inspired to motivate the work of our treasury team, as we provide financially secure retirement plans for our members in congregations, in the international mission field, in institutions of higher education, in benevolent care facilities, and in other expressions of the movement.
Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in accounting and staff management.
Candidates should have experience working in an entrepreneurial, yet mission-minded environment; have a passion for paying attention to details; be relentlessly customer-centric and service-oriented; and understand the unique relational dynamics of working in a church-related, non-profit organization and/or an associational system.
OBJECTIVES
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the candidate to fill this position will influence the organization as a member of the Leadership Team and will:
Oversee and direct the work of our Treasury Team, which includes a Controller, Assistant Controller, and a Treasury Associate;
Ensure all accounting standards and practices including GAAP are maintained;
Lead the implementation of new FASB standards;
Serve as the liaison between Treasury and IT, including project management;
Direct our UBIT filings for K-1 partnerships and other regulatory filings;
Demonstrate and lead a continuous improvement mindset, encouraging both direct reports and the Executive Team to review systems and processes to improve, error proof and streamline procedures and controls;
Utilize investment experience, including analyzing, accounting and reporting for diverse investment portfolios held with custodial and investment managers;
Lead the accounting process for our Canadian plan and Healthcare;
Work with the Internal Auditor and Controller on cash-flow management;
Prepare monthly financial statements and other requested financial reports for the CFO and/or Executive Team;
Work with the Chief Financial Officer and other Executive Team Members to lead our annual budgeting process;
Work with the Internal Auditor to coordinate support for the annual external audit;
Serve as a backup to the CFO and/or the Controller as needed and appropriate within our controls environment;
Work with the Internal Auditor for process and workflow improvement and the implementation and training for best practices;
Coordinate with the Investment Team regarding Pension Fund?s proxy voting process;
Attend meetings of the Board of Directors and/or Financial Affairs Committee as requested; and,
Be a model for a customer-centric and service-oriented culture which seeks continuous improvement and innovation in a team
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess:
CPA with at least 10 years of accounting experience (required);
MBA or Masters of Accountancy (preferred);
Experience with Great Plains software (preferred);
Proven track record of successfully managing people, projects, and processes; and
Pension, banking or investment accounting, or auditing experience (preferred).

The position is based at the Pension Fund?s headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. The position will include travel (10%) for in-person meetings.

The Pension Fund of the Christian Church offers a highly competitive salary along with the following benefits:
14% of salary to our pension plan;
