Position Overview

The Application Architect leads a team of developers in the design, construction, implementation, integration and support of applications within a domain of practice. While the Application Architect?s primary focus is on project level architecture, some involvement in solution architecture will also be required. The Application Architect (Finance Applications) implements the enterprise architecture vision within the Finance Applications domain. While some administrative tasks may be required, the Application Architect is a technical (non-administrative) role requiring hands-on

Responsibilities

Develop and integrate applications in alignment with Enterprise Architecture (EA) policies and roadmaps
Influence build vs. buy decisions at the project level
Provide technical leadership of a development team, including active participation in each team member?s training and development opportunities
Coordinate and direct the day-to-day technical activities of the development team
Promote the development and management of application and information services that can be assembled and reassembled (that is, orchestrated) to flexibly address changing business needs
Identify opportunities to develop or implement reusable artifacts that can be shared across projects
Create and maintain documentation and artifacts for Finance applications
Provide Tier 3/Tier 4 support of Finance applications including off hours and weekend support as necessary
Drive resolution of reported problems to customer satisfaction
Communicate planned outage windows to stakeholders
Be the lead technical contact for vendors working on project delivery
Review and vet potential and proposed vendors and consultants
Coordinate with and inform IT Services of critical activities such as upcoming production moves, database backup/restore requests and planned capacity increases in storage, computing and bandwidth
Update and maintain inventory data on applications
Proactively coordinate with IT Procurement on the purchase and implementations of license and maintenance renewals
Proactively insure all components of the Application Architecture, including operating systems and databases, are maintained and supported
Insure applications and processes meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal audit requirements
Participate in application elaboration, requirements and design activities
Insure all contract and vendor resources are granted appropriate remote access to the network prior to the commencement of engagements
Lead code reviews and insure developers complete unit testing
Support source code management (SVN) activities including branch provisioning, merging and server support
Skills/Requirements

Experience with enterprise financial systems including EAS general ledger software desired
Proven experience designing and executing migration plans from Excel and Access to and SQL server
Ability to identify cross-process business requirements that can be converted into reusable software services
Ability to perform system design that meets the current application needs with an eye for future change
Excellent communication and facilitation skills when dealing with IT, project managers, business relationship managers (BRMs), business analysts and system analysts
Obtain and maintain relevant professional certifications and/or technical training
