On-Call Healthcare Interpreter (Masalit Speakers ONLY) Job Opening in Baltimore, Maryland - Baltimore Medical System (BMS) is looking for an on-call Masalit Speaking Interpreter/Care Coordinator to join our team.
Monday - Friday
Must be available between the hours of 8 AM & 5 PM

Job Summary
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Uses professionally mandated interpreting techniques. Upholds the interpreter code of ethics during the interpreting encounter.
Interprets for providers and Masalit speaking patients/family members. Provides accurate interpretation and communication of information (billing, medical, etc.).
Assists with medical referrals. Instructs the patient in required preparation for procedures and tests. Relates to a wide variety of providers and hospitals as needed to coordinate patient care.
Contacts Masalit speaking patients and accurately transmits messages from the provider and/or nurse. Communicates concerns from the patient to the provider and/or nurse.
Translates and documents activities appropriately in the patients' medical records.

* *Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Fluent in BOTH Masalit and English (read, write, and speak/hear)
6+ months of interpreting experience
6+ months of work experience in a healthcare setting
