Patient Services Coordinator Job Opening in Kensington, Maryland - A rapidly growing psychiatric practice with offices in Montgomery County, DC, and Lexington Park, MD is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be energetic, flexible, and capable of exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills in a dynamic, constantly changing, often pressured environment. Top-notch communications and customer service skills, a pleasant phone manner, the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, and a high degree of professionalism are musts. The position does require some computer skills, and familiarity with EMR is highly desirable. At least a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 2 years' work experience in a similar position, and a working knowledge of health insurance benefits verification are required. Familiarity with the Mental Health industry is highly preferred. Job responsibilities may occasionally require travel between two local offices. A high level of professionalism is required as the person in this position will communicate with a variety of people on a daily basis.
Responsibilities include:
Serving as the "face" of the clinic
Responding to phone/email/website appointment-related requests from established patients
Responding to general patient inquiries, routing to appropriate personnel as necessary
Managing the appointment calendar to ensure maximum provider utilization
Regularly reviewing the calendar for errors and making necessary corrections
Communicating regularly with the Coordinator of Outpatient Services regarding provider schedule changes
Rescheduling patient appointments when clinic needs dictate
Engaging providers when appropriate for emergent patient issues
Attempting to collect balances due from patients when necessary
Enforcing policies
Monitoring incoming fax and e-mail messages and routing them as appropriate
Receiving and directing patient complaints in writing to appropriate personnel
Monitoring office supplies and notifying Coordinator of Outpatient Services when replenishment is necessary
Providing backup coverage for the receptionist
Other duties as assigned
