Direct Support Professional (DSP) Job Opening in Washington, District of columbia - Position Summary
Responsible for providing direct care services and other supports to individuals with cognitive or developmental disability, under supervision of the House Manager and direction of the Program Director. Assists with activities of daily living, hygiene and community activities.
Principal Accountabilities
Facilitate resident activities of daily living, including: hygiene, housekeeping, supervision of chores by individuals as part of the activities of daily living support
Prepare meals daily; assist with clean up for Azure, LLC residents
Facilitate the programming of each resident's ISP/BSP; chart behavioral observations and psychosocial needs to management and other clinical staff
Administer medications while adhering to the protocols outlined by the DC Board of Nursing for Trained Medication Employees
Daily data collection, program documentation, note taking and reporting
Supervise and facilitate resident group trips, weekly activities/field trips and other outside activities as assigned
Actively participate in in-service training provided by Azure, LLC or by other entities to increase knowledge and skill sets in the care of persons with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and major mental illness
Assure a safe, clean, home-like and hazard free environment for Azure
Perform other duties as assigned

Computer experience & adequate typing ability preferred
Internal or External Vocational Experience:
Minimum one (1) year of experience working with individual adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities, and severe and chronic mental illness.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED); CPR, First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications; Current Food Handler Certification; Current PPD & Health clearance; valid TME license; valid driver's license.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position in a residential services/group home environment. Incumbent may have some exposure to diseases and to some risk of injury from assaultive/abusive people; may be exposed to hazardous conditions. Must be able to lift 10-25 lbs.
