ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The cash poster is responsible for entering, balancing and reconciling all patient payments and recoups. Patient payments include payments from many payers, insurance companies, charitable foundations, private payments and others. The cash poster becomes familiar with all methods of payment and insurance explanation of benefits. It is important that this person comes with some knowledge of insurance payments, EOBs and an understanding of daily deposits and cash poster will eventually be cross-trained and will know how to handle all functions within the cash-posting department. She/he is responsible for the storage of records related to cash entry. Cash posters must be aware of and follow all HIPAA rules to protect the patient?s information and Collection staff members are expected to communicate and work well within their team and with all business office staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
2 years experience in a Medical Billing Office
The ability to read and understand an explanation of benefits.
Basic computer skills i.e. email, excel and word.
Other duties and or projects may be assigned, as they become necessary.
