Patient Service Representative Job Opening in Franklin, Tennessee - Job Summary:
The Patient Service Representative provides total clinical office support including check-in and check-out procedures, medical records and insurance functions. It is the responsibility of the Patient Services team to make the patient feel welcome and valued, as they are first and last interaction. Their main duties will be verification and entry of patient information & demographics, filing insurance claims, and communicating with the patient and their insurance company as needed. The Patient Service Representative will provide the highest standards and professional services to our patients.
Hours: Full-time
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Checks patients in, verifying all information;
Assists with chart prep/answer phones as needed;
Assists with document scanning;
Ensures proper patient flow;
Collects copays and patient balances;
Changes and updates insurance information;
Ensures HIPAA policies are upheld;
Obtains and mails receipts for patients, as requested. Pre-authorizes and researches insurance coverage as needed for vision and medical examinations and procedures;
Assists with benefit estimates prior to the patient having a procedure, exam or special test;
Fills in Optician and/or Ophthalmic Technician position as needed;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 1+ years of experience working as a receptionist or in the medical field is required; Knowledge of medical and vision insurance is a plus; Knowledge of confidentiality and release of information.
