Director of Finance Job Opening in Wichita, Kansas - Classification : Management Professional (Exempt)
Department : Administration
Reports To : Executive Director
Hours: Flexible; primarily 8:00 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Primary Function:
The Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of Club finances including but not limited to: daily accounting operations, payroll, financial reporting, budgeting, tax reporting, employee benefits, insurance coverage, and property management. The Director or Finance works with senior leadership, the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee to maintain, analyze, and interpret all aspects of accounting and budgeting for Club operations, administration and programming.
Key Roles:
Leadership and Strategic Planning
Lead and collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team.
Work with club leadership to develop annual income and expense budget for the Organization and each Club/Site.
Oversee the process for identifying and evaluating opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit findings.
Maintain and implement policies and procedures for all financial management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to build on and improve upon the organizations 1, 3 and 5-year strategic plan.
Resource Management
Seek and secure financial support and resources by managing:
the preparation of the annual request for United Way funds; and
all assets and investments of the Boys & Girls Club, including real property, equities, bonds and other assets.
Accounting
Maintain, analyze, and interpret general ledger for all funds;
Manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports on a monthly and as needed basis
Control and monitor monthly organization actual expenditures against budget.
Prepare monthly and annual cash flow projections; including updating monthly budgeted cash flow with actual monthly results.
Oversee and have a working knowledge of all duties of other staff within the Finance Department, including the following functions: payables, receivables, payroll, federal grant budgeting and reporting, annual 1099 reporting, and other projects as requested.
Manage annual IRS Form 990. Coordinate preparation with outside accounting firm. Review with the Finance Committee for compliance and accuracy. Present to Executive Committee for approval to file with IRS by deadline.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Bachelor?s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
A minimum five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar not-for-profit organization with an emphasis on accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and resource management.
A strong finance and accounting background with proven success in managing a organizations budget and accounting functions.
Excellent analytical reasoning and organizational skills.
Knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to nonprofits. Including the ability to create an organizational budget and manage the organizations cash flow.
Maintain confidentiality of information records and materials.
Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook).
