Director of Finance Job Opening in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Primary Function:
Partner with organizational leaders to plan and direct activities that impact and drive financial results and long term growth to support the mission of Animal Humane Society. Responsible for all aspects of the Finance department, including the oversight of financial policies, procedures, and controls. Direct, plan, and manage the day-to-day, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting activities that are required to produce financial reporting. Supervise the accounting team managing financial information for Animal Humane Society and Now Boarding.
Essential Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer to oversee financial performance and financial planning that supports organizational strategies and guides future efforts.
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting that support organizational priorities and strategies.
Oversee preparation, analysis, and coordination of monthly financial statements and audits and the report of results to leadership and internal customers.
Identify and develop key financial and business metrics and recommend appropriate action.
Coordinate the financial aspects of strategic and capital campaign plans.
Oversee annual budgeting process and review forecasts and variances to provide financial insight.
Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger processes.
Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals and objectives.
Works with external auditors to prepare and complete audits in a timely manner; maintain organized records to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions.
Qualifications Required:
B.A. or B.S. in Finance, Accounting or related field
4?6 years? experience in financial management
Exceptional, bold leadership and strategic thinking skills, sound business acumen
Broad knowledge of financial and accounting analysis, practices, and procedures
Thrives and is comfortable with autonomy and accountability
Critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, including complex problem solving, troubleshooting, and decision making
Ability to present technical, numerical, and complex data to stakeholders in an effective and persuasive manner
