(SMS) has a strong track record of leveraging technology and application development; and we are looking for a Web Developer for our Omaha office. The right candidate will possess full stack development abilities to help design, develop, implement and support state of the art web application systems for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
Back-End Programming Functions:
Develop and implement technology strategies and platforms that meet current and future business needs
Responsible for expressing application behavior via code, designing and testing program logic, designing and maintaining persistent data storage and preparing appropriate application documentation
Use appropriate methods, design patterns and best practices to optimize program and to enhance maintainability
Follow and contribute to coding style guidelines and standards. Monitor applications for expected performance and respond to emergencies, errors and application efficiency problems
Work with specifications and business rules to meet programming goals/objectives in a timely and effective manner
Maintain integrity of application logic and resources, and establishes required checks and balances for operational controls
Front-End Programming Functions:
Responsible for transforming system and project requirements into an efficient and functional interface, while maintaining the style and branding unique to each application
Ensure finished solutions work within a variety of supported browser types and screen settings along with the constraints set by development and design
Work with marketing, operations and other IT staff on front-end visual style and approach for all projects
Participate in efforts to improve quality of web applications as required
Project Management/Analyst Functions:
Collaborate with IT management and Project Management staff to develop and draft specifications for application features
Collaborate with co-workers on software development life cycle, including the coordination of effort for development, testing and deployment of application changes
Provide clear communication with project stakeholders regarding software requirements, user experience, application features and project status
Partner with project support staff to execute deliverables in a collaborative and collegial team environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, MIS or similar course area OR equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum of 3 years working experience creating database-driven web applications in a professional production environment preferred
Experience in the Insurance industry considered beneficial
Experience with MVC design pattern concepts considered beneficial
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
