Bookkeeper Job Opening in Louisville, Kentucky - Mission Connection: The Bookkeeper supports the mission of Seed to Oaks and Sojourn Community Church by providing leadership with reliable and useful financial data, enabling them to make informed and wise decisions. This is accomplished by maintaining complete and accurate financial records with wisdom and integrity.
Outcomes and Responsibilities:
Financial transactions and reporting for Seed to Oaks are complete, accurate, and timely.
Process and record contributions and other miscellaneous receipts.
Deposit all monies to the bank, giving or other miscellaneous receipts, received by the organization.
Process all reimbursements and bills approved by assigned budget managers.
Maintain the general ledger by regularly updating accounts from online ? credit cards, bank accounts, etc. Reconcile accounts monthly.
Prepare monthly financial reporting for Seed to Oaks leadership.
Maintain a complete, accurate, and organized filing system for all financial records.
Financial controls for Seed to Oaks are maintained in an effective and efficient manner.
Ensure all financials controls put in place are documented and properly upheld.
Maintain updated forms needed for transactions (e.g. deposit forms, check requests, etc.) to ensure proper support is provided to the Finance Team.
Provide recommendations where controls can be improved/updated to the Director of Finance.
Seed to Oaks staff members are appropriately informed and feel supported by the Finance Team.
Provide appropriate onboarding to each new employee regarding the policies and procedures of the Finance Team relevant to their position.
Provide ad hoc reporting to Seed to Oaks staff in a timely manner, as needed and/or requested.
Respond to questions and requests from Seed to Oaks staff in a timely manner.
Sojourn Community Church financial transactions are complete, accurate, and timely.
Process all reimbursements and bills approved by assigned budget managers.
Maintain a complete, accurate, and organized filing system for all financial records.
The bookkeeper has sufficient accounting knowledge, as well as an understanding of the functionality of accounting systems and software used, to perform job adequately.
Attend necessary or helpful trainings that provide knowledge in accounting and the systems and software utilized in job responsibilities.
Research and resolve issues from accounting software and other related systems and software as they arise, and include Director of Finance as necessary.
Communicate knowledge gaps to Director of Finance to ensure training is provided where necessary.
Character and Competencies:
Fulfills the character and qualifications of a staff member as outlined in the Sojourn Bylaws and Staff Handbook
High attention to detail in all tasks along with a drive to accomplish tasks
Willingness to serve in humble ways with a knowledge of how everything we do serves the Lord
Strong organization skills both personally and ability to organize other people?s actions and plans
Experience in Microsoft Office suite and Google docs
Expectations:
Adhere to Sojourn Staff Covenant
Support the mission and goals of Sojourn and champion the ministry philosophy
20 hours per week at the Sojourn Meridian Building (1303 South Shelby Street)
Commit to collaborate with staff members and promote unity across all Sojourn churches and departments
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 /hour
