Senior Android Engineer Job Opening in Madison, Wisconsin - Fetch is a Madison, Wisconsin-based technology company located in the heart of downtown Madison. Our company currently provides two mobile applications in the mobile grocery market ? Shop Fetch and Fetch Rewards ? in both the Android and iOS platforms. The mission of Fetch is to provide easy access to the information and technology necessary for people to enjoy every stage in the life of food (inspiration, planning, purchasing, preparation, and of course?eating). Founded in 2013 and growing, Fetch is looking for a senior developer to help us change the grocery shopping experience.
The Senior Android Engineer is an innovative collaborator with the ability to work with teammates across multiple departments to refine, design, and build, cutting edge technology in mobile shopping. Success in this position requires a desire to be challenged, and the ability lead in developing solutions with limited guidance. The Senior Android Developer is a key leadership position in our team, providing guidance and technical direction within our Android platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Break problems into solvable pieces and translate those solutions into code. We use the best technical solution for the project so be prepared to integrate with other APIs and third-party applications.
Ensure delivery of a high-quality product, by being involved in all areas of the software development life-cycle.
Drive projects from conceptualization through to successful deployment and on-going support and maintenance.
Willingness to learn other programming languages, so that you can apply your business knowledge to other applications.
SKILLS WE BELIEVE YOU NEED FOR THIS POSITION
5-7 years of experience as a software engineer with a minimum of 3 years in Android development.
Proficiency with the Android SDK, Java (or other object-oriented language), and basic understanding of service oriented architecture.
Expertise in developing on the Android platform and releasing to the Google Play store.
Ability to troubleshoot mobile applications and explain both short and long-term solutions with trade-offs.
Effective communication, including the ability translate and explain technical issues for non-development team member.
Ability and desire to work as part of a team, both within and across departments.
Familiarity with at least one version control system (bonus points for knowing the exact Git commands).
Love of Dogs! . . . Or just tolerance. We're a very canine friendly workplace.
SKILLS WE BELIEVE WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THIS POSITION:
Experience using Kotlin.
Unit and integration test writing.
Interest in learning more about the iOS technology stack, so you can ensure continuity across both platforms.
An undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or mathematical field of study.
