Primary Purpose: In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the donation of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and ocular tissue through (i) comprehensive medical screenings, (ii) discussing donation options with potential donor families, and (iii) managing tissue recovery logistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses donation potential by critically reviewing the patient?s clinical course and health history; this is done through the use of electronic medical record access and working directly with hospital nurses and physicians in a professional, efficient, and precise manner.
Conducts sensitive, informational discussions with potential donor families regarding tissue donation options for their loved ones.
Empowers legal next of kin to make an informed donation decision through finely tuned communication skills.
Communicates donor medical information to national tissue processors in an accurate, professional and efficient manner.
Collaborates with Partner Relations management to troubleshoot challenges in real-time.
Advocates for donation while communicating with partner organizations and donor families.
Continually monitors research requests to meet distribution needs for research tissue.
Routinely monitors all Donor Operations activity including timely follow-up on early referrals, updating referrals in database, actively addressing barriers, etc.
Completes continuous training requirements to maintain proficiency and improve performance in a rapidly changing work environment.
Promotes SightLife?s growth-driven, continuous improvement culture through positive, productive communication.
Routinely provide feedback to Donor Operations Management and Director of Partner Relations regarding hospital education needs, medical review and coordination logistics.
Designs and executes on projects as needed. Actively participates in other projects and duties as assigned.
Ensure all applicable FDA, EBAA, SightLife and state regulatory policies are followed.

High-level oral and written communication skills and interacts effectively with all Eye Bank staff

Experience with computer data bases and data entry
Able to interpret and follow written direction
A personal dedication to organ, eye and tissue donation required.
Ability to work long hours, nights, and weekends. Flexibility to work an inconsistent schedule spanning all shifts and days.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
High School or equivalent.
Bachelor?s Degree in related field preferred.
Relevant educational or work experience preferred.
