Job Title: CASUAL Nursing Assistant
Department : Nursing
FSLA: Non Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Nurse Assistant performs direct nursing care activities under the direction of the Licensed Nurse. The Nurse Assistant provides comfort, caring, and empathy in a time efficient manner while providing dignity to residents and staff.
Reports to : Director of Healthcare Services
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Keeps informed and updated on changes of the residents? condition by attending daily report and reading log book information.
Accurately documents on all residents.
Notifies Licensed Nurse of any changes in resident?s condition. (physical, emotional, or mental).
Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety plan and appropriate use of safety devices.
Demonstrates knowledge and follows procedures for appropriate isolation precautions. Maintains universal precautions and proper body mechanics at all times.
Properly bathes and grooms assigned residents; maintains modesty of residents at all times.
Assures clothing of residents are neat and clean.
Provides clean bed linens and maintains a clean and neat bed/ bedroom. Provides supplies in room when needed and monitors and disposes of trash in room as needed.
Responds promptly to call signals and fulfills residents? request in a reasonable amount of time.
Brings residents to activities and participates when appropriate.
Prepares residents for appointments.
Prepares the residents for mealtime on each shift.
Participates in continuing education programs and in-service training.
Works cooperatively with nursing and all ancillary staff to assure excellent nursing care for all residents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience and / or certification as a Nurse Assistance preferred.
Ability to use standard equipment including but not limited to thermometers, blood pressure equipment,Assistive lifts, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc.
Ability to bend, stoop, sit, kneel and reach above shoulder level and lift items weighing 60 pounds or less; consistent walking and standing is required.
Ability to follow verbal instruction and converse with residents, co-workers, and visitors.
Must be able to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions and remain organized. Tasks may last 10 to 25 minutes in length.
Ability to cope with mental and/ or emotional stress related to the position.
Able to recognize the needs and desires of others and maintain a respectful and courteous response to residents, staff, and visitors alike.
Willingness to adapt to changes in the work environment or procedures with ease and flexibility.
Must be in general good health and provide immunity to communicable organisms.
Must be able to respond to audible emergency signals, alarms, call light indicators, and be comfortable answering the phone.
Must have good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to approach people in a manner which creates harmony and promotes cooperation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job assignments and responsibilities may vary.
Tasks involve potential and/ or direct exposure to blood or bodily fluids must use PPE.
Exposure to latex, plastic, and/or other materials.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Nurse Assistant is directly accountable to the Director of Healthcare Service
