Roles and responsibilities
Position Summary: This position is an excellent entry level position in the field of healthcare data management. A master patient index (MPI) analyst evaluates potential duplicates in hospital?s MPI databases and determines whether or not separate entries may represent the same patient. EvriChart?s MPI matching algorithms will identify potential duplicates in an MPI database and the analyst?s role is to refer to external research sources such as address validation data to either validate or invalidate the potential duplicates.
Responsibilities: * Successfully complete an EvriChart training program covering the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the position. Training includes coverage of HIPAA, HITECH, and the applicable Health Information Management (HIM) systems. * Follow standard merge guidelines for identifying individuals with duplicate medical record numbers or the same medical record number assigned to more than one patient. * Follow procedures for selecting the winning medical record number, merging duplicate numbers and files, and updating the necessary databases based on client instructions. * Assist with the development of step by step instructions regarding electronic merging, accuracy, and integrity of electronic and manual merging of duplicates. * Report your activities weekly or as required, findings and actions of the MPI duplicate minimization program to the MPI Project Manager. * Attend and participate in meetings.

Requirements: * Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with clerical, technical, managerial and senior level staff. * Ability to work independently on assigned tasks. * Strong problem solving, computer, analytical, judgment and research skills. * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and other systems Preferences:
An Associates or Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university or current progress towards an Associates or Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university. * Experience in Health Information Services or a similar medical office setting. * Experience in Health Information Management * Credentials of RHIA or RHIT * Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relative to the confidentiality and security of patient health information.
