Senior Applications Consulting Engineer Job Opening in Seattle, Washington - Convergent Manufacturing Technologies is a world-leader in manufacturing simulation of composite structures with an international customer base. Convergent develops finite element based engineering simulation software and provide engineering support services to leading aerospace companies world-wide. Convergent-US located in Seattle is looking for qualified engineers to add to its team.
Position Overview:
This position will be reporting directly to the President of Convergent Manufacturing Technologies US and be responsible for developing our application consulting activities in the US. The successful candidate is a dynamic, self-motivated individual who can interact with customers, define statements of work, write proposals, manage multiple simulations projects and mentor colleges. This position requires a working knowledge of;
Convergent?s process simulation tools and
Application use of these tools to solve real world problems. Including equipment, part, tool and process optimization for
Thermal, dimensional, part conformity
Cycle time and yield
Capital equipment minimization
A successful candidate is expected to have good knowledge of Finite Element Simulation and be able to set-up problems, perform simulations, and evaluate, synthesize and report results to the customer. The position may involve conducting training courses in the use of Convergent software tools, technical customer support, experimental characterization of model inputs and model validation.
The candidate must have an experience of working in aerospace and/or composites industry as an M&P or design engineer. Good understanding of finite element analysis as well as some experience in using commercial finite element software in an industrial setting is an asset. The position will initially involve some training in Vancouver, Canada. The candidate must also be a US person.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Perform engineering duties under supervision of the President
be responsible for growing and managing our applications consulting in the US
be responsible for project managing and performing applications support projects
Interface with Convergent Canada product development groups product planning and support groups.
Interact with customers and develop statements of work based on customer needs
Write technical and budgetary proposals
Write project reports and preparing presentations
Set up, run and evaluate results from finite element analysis
Conduct training courses in the use of Convergent software
Provide customer support with respect to Convergent software
Contribute to the company?s technical and marketing publications and presentations
Work with the software development group in guiding software development
Required and Preferred Experience:
4-6 years of experience as an M&P or design engineer in composites or aerospace industries
Tool Design and/or tool compensation experience
Composite part thermal
Experience with Convergent?s RAVEN and COMPRO
Understanding of the fundamentals of Finite Element Analysis
Experience with modelling of composite structures
Ability to work from first principles
Experience in project management
Working knowledge of ABAQUS and CATIA
Post graduate experience not required but would be an asset
Preferred Software Experience:
Finite element software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, MARC etc.
CAD software such as CATIA and Solidworks
Comfortable working in Windows environment
MS Word PowerPoint and Excel
Educational Qualifications:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, with an emphasis on composites manufacturing. An understanding of finite element fundamentals is essential.
