Laser Operator Job Opening in grand rapids, Michigan - Laser Operator reply to SUMMARY: This position sets up and operates the Trumpf laser cutting machines to produce products in conjunction with customer quality requirements. Laser Operator is responsible for operating and processing parts according to print requirements. Monitoring machine cutting performance and utilization are essential. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: ?Follows safe manufacturing and material handling practices ?Can follow written and verbal details to complete assignments or jobs ?Understands machine setup including: program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles ?Understands start-up and shut down for laser machines ?Understands how to read material sheet tags and determines material types and gages ?Must be able to keep work environment clean, safe and orderly ?Can accurately count and record production activity ?Can use a calipers and tape measure to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances ?Can perform laser cutting operations efficiently and effectively, per specifications ?Can identify and communicate to management machine and quality issues as they arise ?Can set up machines ?Can operate a fork lift REQUIREMENTS ?The individual must have a solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes. ?1-2 years of prior CNC machine operation experience ?The individual must possess a keen sense of attention to detail ?Must be able to navigate in a windows based computer environment ?Must possess the ability to operate overhead cranes, tape measure and calipers, hand tools, and a torch ?Must be able to determine material/steel types and gages ?Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and BOM?s ?Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills ?High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ?Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-50 lbs. frequently. ?Sit, stand and walk for 1-10 hours per day. ?Ability to work in a 55-88 degree Fahrenheit work environment. ?Work in a fast paced industrial environment grand rapids mi michigan
