Scientific Data Developer Job Opening in Durham, North carolina - The Office of Data Science is looking for talented computer and information scientists to help increase the utility of scientific data in enabling new research discoveries. The Institute is increasing its focus on building data systems that are capable of managing, processing, and querying complex and often large-scale biomedical data sets. To support this, we are looking for individuals who have expertise in operating and developing software/data systems in support of scientific research, or who have experience with big data in other domain applications that can be applied to biomedical research.
Individuals must have solid experience in software development, ideally in Python, Java, Go, or C/C++. They should have experience developing and supporting the operation of data systems, including relational databases and ideally exposure to NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB, Neo4J). The data systems are principally Linux based, so experience in Linux is of high interest. We are also looking for skillsets in the following areas (although not necessarily in a single individual candidate): web-based of research data, distributed data systems, biomedical ontologies, and dev/ops as applied to large-scale data systems.
This position is only for local individuals who can work onsite.
