JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Payer Specialist would be responsible for all verification of insurance and maintain all authorizations for hospice and hospice room and board patients. Data entry would be tracked by using the Month End Claims outstanding report and monthly DQR tracking tool. Other tasks would include:
Coordinate with onsite location for new admissions, as well as gather and validate intake data
Verify insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicaid Room and Board
Initiate authorizations for hospice care and hospice room and board
Submit room and board notice
Enter patient data for referral
Maintain current insurance authorizations
Audit all hospice admissions
Submit the Medicare Notice of Elections
Communicate directly with the Hospice Transition Specialist
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred
3+ years' experience with healthcare insurance
Ability to multi-task
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Problem-solving skills
Analytical skills
Type 50+ WPM
Experience working with all payer types to include Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies
Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures
