MDX Hawaii is a physician group organization providing care to over 28,000 Medicare Advantage enrollees in Hawaii. The Director of Finance will provide financial and analytical support to the local market leadership team to help improve business performance and drive improved financial and clinical outcomes. More specific accountabilities are as follows:
Functions as a partner and key resource to the market leadership team supporting all local market primary business initiatives related to growth, revenue maximization and expense / utilization outcomes.
Identifies operational / medical cost savings opportunities, and insights / drivers of cost and utilization fluctuations
Partners with local and corporate analytic teams, drive and perform analysis of medical and hospital cost and utilization trends. Understand drivers / root causes of outliers and excessive variation.
Leads market budgeting and forecasting activities
Maintains incentive program analysis
Provides oversight of local financial operational functions
Develop profitability forecasts for ancillary lines of business
The ideal candidate will have background in financial planning / forecasting and medical analytic support, and is comfortable in a very hands on environment, working directly with large data sets, and will collaborate effectively with operational and clinical leadership.
MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
Ability to multitask and function in a high volume/busy environment. Ability to work calmly under pressure and appropriately plan, prioritize, organize and carry out tasks and responsibilities.
Essential: sitting, standing, walking, twisting body, finger dexterity, hearing, speaking, lifting usual amount of 30lbs. pushing usual amount of 30lbs., reaching at or above shoulder level.
Frequent: stooping/bending, kneeling, and crouching/squatting frequent gripping of an object.
Occasional: crawling, climbing stairs, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
Good decision making and communicating skills. Ability to motivate people. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office based position; subject to inside environmental conditions (temperature fluctuations of air-conditioned office), not substantially subjected to adverse external environmental conditions. Subject to noise from various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: typewriters, copy machines, faxes, printers and computers. May be exposed to chemicals and/or fumes (e.g. copy toner or cleaning fluid).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor?s degree in Finance or Accounting is Required
Minimum of seven (7) years related work experience with progressively increasing management responsibility, preferably in a health care / managed care setting.
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, metrics reporting and analysis with a cloud based system preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Demonstrated expertise in accounting and financial information systems and analysis.
Strong proficiency with office based technology, tools and applications including Microsoft Office applications.
