Staff Accountant Job Opening in Irvine, California - RailPros is seeking a Staff Accountant to support project-level and corporate accounting activities at our Irvine, California headquarters office.
Responsibilities primarily include assisting project managers and staff on a daily basis using Deltek (formerly Axium) Ajera. We are engaged in several long-term projects with unique requirements for each project. Specific project-level responsibilities include:
Monitoring weekly and monthly project costs from labor, expenses and subconsultants
Creating and closing projects in Deltek Ajera in accordance to contract specifications, including creating and monitoring labor rate tables
Creating, tracking, and issuing project invoices accurately and timely in accordance to client agreements and internal deadlines
Working with other accountants, clients, and project managers to ensure timely collection on project invoices
Creating and monitoring project budgets in Deltek Ajera based on contracts, amendments and change orders and communicating budget issues to project managers
Tracking and reviewing subconsultant invoices for accuracy and adherence to project specifications
Other responsibilities include:
Assisting Senior Accountant and Chief Financial Officer with month-end close activities as needed, including journal entries and reconciliations
Assisting with payroll, including monitoring and reviewing employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
Assisting with audits and other ad hoc reporting as needed
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of accounting or related experience, primarily project accounting experience at an engineering, architecture, or construction company
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and proofreading
Experience with A/P and collections
Experience processing payroll for 50+ employees
Must be able to work independently, and exercise good judgment
Ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with multiple managers while striving to meet deadlines
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting
Experience using Deltek (Axium) Ajera accounting software
Experience with certified payrolls and prevailing wage
