Staff Accountant Job Opening in Salinas, California - The Staff Accountant provides accurate and timely financial information while maintaining the integrity of company accounting systems.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of monthly journal entry and analysis
Reconciliations ? prepaid accounts and accrual accounts
Input and analysis of general ledger accounts
Maintains and updates balance sheet analysis reports
Monthly closing process ? posting, balancing and reconciling subsidiary ledgers
Daily processing of invoices for prior day shipments, resolve issues preventing invoices from advancing through to G/L
Performs a variety of duties related to Inventory Management, including daily processing of customer invoicing
Reconciliation of finished goods receipts to production
Manage the freight expense accounts and the freight allocation program (Freight Line Split Enhancement)
Reconcile and prepare requests for payment of intercompany charges between affiliate entities
Maintain schedules for calculation of seed royalties for accrual and for payment
Review monthly expenses to budget for assigned BUs
Any other duties as assigned
Educational & Job Requirements
Bachelor?s degree in a related field is preferred
3-5 years of experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
Ability to plan, organize and maintain the accuracy of all financial information reported
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, systems and procedures
Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
Excellent paperwork and analysis techniques
Work under minimal supervision
Examine and verify financial documents
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
