The Controller is accountable for the conservation, preservation and maintenance of the corporate fiscal assets and records including but not limited to timely financial and statistical reporting with marked emphasis on cash management. The Controller is additionally responsible for the fiscal oversight of the Community CFO?s, to include recruitment and evaluation.
Responsibilities:
Recruits, coaches, supervises and educates Community Chief Financial Officers to ensure that the appropriate level of support is provide to the individual Facility while the overall objectives of the System are met. The Community Chief Financial Officer reports to the Administrator or Regional Administrator and supervises various department heads and administrative support staff including those associated with the Patient Financial Services, Revenue Optimization and Compliance, and Financial Decision Support functions. This position has frequent contact with corporate personnel including the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Budget & Policy Officer, and the MPAS Team. The position also has frequent contact with guarantors and patients, medical staff, third party payers, governmental regulatory agencies, collection agencies, and professional associations.
Develops, implements, interprets and monitors accounting standards and procedures that conform to Corporate policies, governmental regulations and various regulatory agency requirements.
Serve as the representative for System on Subsidiary Boards to include CHA Health (net revenue of $300 million per year) and Bluegrass Stone Therapy ($2.7 million annually).
Manages the accounting, payroll, cash management and accounts payable departments in an efficient manner by planning, organizing and controlling all or most activities of the departments.
Develops, produces and distributes monthly operating reports to all levels of the organization to assist management in the efficient daily operation of the System.
Interprets operating reports with senior management and facility administration to facilitate efficient operations of hospitals, clinics and home care entities.
Performs or causes to be performed, departmental operations reviews, on a regular basis. Reviews shall include: departmental operations, quality initiatives, customer satisfaction initiatives and productivity initiatives.
Attend Resource and Strategic Direction Committee?s of the Board, providing support for financial matters to include reimbursement, funding and operations relevant to the System.
Negotiate all managed care agreements with third party payers to ensure that the System is adequately reimbursed for services. This is to be accomplished by remaining current on trends and methods in healthcare reimbursement.
Serves as the leader of the Budget Committee, providing education, direction, guidance and consultation regarding budgeting practices.
Maintains the accounting system of the corporation including all general books and ledgers, preparation of all financial statements, and reports. Assists in the preparation of and maintenance of various cost reports, tax returns and third party purchases of service.
Develops charging mechanisms and levels to ensure services are appropriately priced given market and cost considerations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
CPA or MBA required with minimum of five years in a senior finance role with previous experience as a CFO. Must be experienced with third party payment methodologies.
