Health Information Management System Administrator Job Opening in Allentown, Pennsylvania - Summary: The Part Time (M-F 5 hrs per day) HIMS System Administrator will assist in the planning, organizing and directing of all activities relating to electronic medical records training, implementation and maintenance, as well as any other related computer software within OAA?s multi-site Orthopaedic group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Continually evaluates tests and troubleshoots OAA internal systems in order to maintain expert knowledge of EMR software systems.
Documents workflows for each area and finds best ways to apply the EMR systems within those flows.
Develops function specific training using a combination of EMR capabilities and area work flows.
Trains staff, possibly outside normal working hours, on their specific functions in the EMR systems.
Assists with the implementation of EMR systems as it applies to the role out plan of Administration.
Works with OAA staff to ensure ongoing effective use of the systems and implements quality improvements.
Works with Clinical Task force to establish policies and procedures.
Works with Clinical Task Force to create and maintain reports and templates based on user requests.
Develops a process to track development and changes in EMR based on user requests.
Acts as liaison between OAA staff, providers, IT and Administration regarding questions or concerns with computer software.
Establishes and maintains EMR user security based on functionality needed by staff.
Supports providers and staff as needed in OAA remote sites.
Trains staff in any other software systems and support systems as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A minimum of two years? electronic medical record experience, preferably with Athena
Two year degree or certification preferred in science, health care or an equivalent combination of education and experience in healthcare environment
Knowledge of PAC?s and EMR documentation
Clinical background
ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding experience
Prior software maintenance experience
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to work one-on-one with physicians and staff and present a professional and confident approach to assist in the training and support of EMR systems
