MS Windows Image Developer and Test Lead CGEMJP00024202 Job Opening in CHICAGO, Illinois - MS Windows Image Developer and Test Lead for the Global Technology Platform (RTP) Team. RTP consists of hardware, infrastructure platforms and support that enable restaurant technologies like NP6 (Point-of-Sale software). RTP is critical as it allows data to move into and within restaurants, it supports services cost-effectively, and it connects restaurant applications and technology services securely. RTP includes the creation and testing of global images, hardware/device selection and testing, asset collection analytics and lifecycle management, licensing and SKU coordination, systems management within the restaurants, and more.

Responsibilities

? Act as a technical lead for the development and testing teams for global MS Windows images for both desktops and servers.

? Build, configure and manage imaging processes for MS Windows 10, Pos-Ready 7, Server 2008/2012/2016, and beyond.

? Work with Systems Management, Networking, Help Desk, Change Management, and QA to complete images for large scale enterprise desktop deployments.

? Coordinate with other teams in implementing patching and security policies into image releases.

? Evaluate current system capabilities and processes to identify changes that need to be made

? Create/refine/document and automate image deployment and testing/QA processes within RTP team.

? Design, implement, and maintain standard desktop, laptop, server, or other endpoint systems and devices within lab environments to replicate global environments.

? Install, configure and troubleshoot hardware, including desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment within RTP labs.

? Install, configure and troubleshoot software packages, including operating systems, desktop software and custom applications.

? Develop custom hardware/software profiles and components using MS Windows client and server platforms.

? Apply modifications and customizations to the OS through registry modifications

? Script to install application and drivers into the images

? Develop and document design specification and build processes

? Work with management to overcome obstacles and complete projects.

? Represent the customers and stakeholders to internal and external technology providers

? Troubleshoot/debug software and hardware problems related to the operating system or supporting applications, drivers, and services.

? Work closely with other developers to ensure best practices and design compliance

? Ability to write up repeatable test steps of the developed work and execute those tests.



The following knowledge or skills are considered as necessary for this role:

? Bachelor?s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or a combination of education/training and work experience equivalent to an advanced degree.

? 6+ years of experience with PC support in a MS Windows environment

? Experience with creation of .wim,.iso,.esd,.VHD files, MS Windows image files using MDT toolkit

? Experience with PowerShell scripting and utility program development for MS Windows imaging and configuration

? Detailed knowledge of MS Windows (Win PR7/10/2008/2012/2016), MS Windows registry, applications, and computer drive imaging technologies (Symantec Ghost, Microsoft Image-X, wimlib), and client platforms and related hardware.

? MS Windows OS and software troubleshooting skills

? Experience with troubleshooting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

? Detailed knowledge of best practices for imaging and application packaging

? Experience in software development, processes, and methods including best practices and tools for continuous integration, code branching and builds.

? QA/Software Testing/Troubleshooting experience, especially around test automation.

? Knowledge of PXE and DHCP functionality

? Thorough understanding of hardware and peripherals with experience supporting Microsoft operating systems in a networked environment; MS Windows 7 and above.

? Scripting: 5 years (Required)



? Desktop Imaging: 5 years (Required)

? PowerShell: 5 years (Required)

? Thin Client: 5 years (Required)

? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

? Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to share application expertise, communicate complex business problems, and facilitate discussions with stakeholders.

? Self-starter and ability to manage own time effectively

? Strong organization skills

? Must be able to solve complex problems through research and analysis.



The following knowledge or skills are considered as nice to have for this role:

? Experience working with Linux scripting and Terraform

? Experience/awareness of Microsoft MultiPoint or Userful

? Knowledge of file based and sector-based imaging.

? Ability to create and edit task sequences using SCCM and MDT

? Experience in Microsoft?s OEM Pre-installation Kit (OPK) tools

? Experience with SCCM and using Distribution Points for intermediary package deployments

? Working with 2016 Docker Container technology

? Ability to develop MS Windows applications which enable setup and deployment of MS Windows client and server.

? Familiarity of POS/Hospitality technology and architectures.
