Job Summary:
The Financial Officer position reports to the Executive Director. This position supervises all accounting matters for ONA, Nurse Practitioners of Oregon (NPO), Oregon Nurse PAC (ON-PAC), Nurses United PAC (NU-PAC), and Oregon Nurses Foundation (ONF). Assist in annual budget preparation, coordinates annual audit preparation for ONA, PACs, and ONF. Leads business activities including; new business development, planning, contracting and oversight Review of all contracts between ONA and vendors. Supervises accounting staff and is responsible for preparation and maintenance of payroll files.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monthly preparation and analysis of financial statements.
Management of all accounts receivables, accounts payable and cash receipts.
Leading business activities including reporting on relationship between revenue centers and cost centers to the Board of Directors.
Research possible business initiatives.
Development of return on investment analysis for current and prospective program and product opportunities.
Preparation of business plans to modify existing products or launch new products.
Development of contracts for ONA product offerings where ONA is a vendor
Review and oversight of business aspects of all ONA programs and products.
Preparation of contributions and expenditures reports for NU-PAC and ON-PAC on Capitol On-Ramp.
Supervision of all accounting staff.
Management of all revenue received and their deposit into the correct account, restricted funds, or separate entity or subsidiary.
Annual budget preparation and projection.
Coordinates yearly audit preparation for ONA, PACs, ONF.
Reviews all contracts between ONA and vendors.
Review any contracts between ONA Constituent Associations, locals, special interest group or lines of business where ONA has potential financial or legal liability.
Preparation of monthly payroll.
Coordinates all accounting software.
Communicates with insurance and benefits provider responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Accounting degree required
Master?s Degree in Business preferred
Minimum of five years accounting experience required
Accounting supervisory experience preferred
Experience in business planning and oversight desirable
Demonstrable competence in government and non-profit accounting
Advanced knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Expertise in contract review.
Independent decision making skills
