Residence Life Coordinator Job Opening in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - The Residence Life Coordinator is a full-time, live-in, professional staff member and reports to the Associate Director of Student Life at Harrisburg Univeristy. Together, they form the professional staff team for the office of Housing and Residence Life, and are members of the larger Student Services team, headed by the Director of Student Services. The position includes community building and administrative management responsibility of the whole Harrisburg University residential community, with around 150-250 residents, student staff supervision, training and development, programming, and enforcing University and Housing policies. The Residence Life Coordinator should also demonstrate a commitment to multiculturalism and social justice.
This position will have a compensation which includes base salary. Housing and utility expenses are covered.
Position Responsibilities:
Facilitates the development of a community and educational environment that encourages inclusive and positive relationships among residents.
Assists the Associate Director of Student Life in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the residential community including staff supervision, programming, counseling, discipline, facilities and administrative tasks.
Supervises, trains, evaluates and selects Resident Assistants and possible other student staff.
Counsels, advises and assists residents concerning personal, interpersonal, and facilities concerns.
Provides academic support through guiding students to resources.
Serve on-call as the primary professional responder to the campus; notify appropriate officials when support is necessitated
Administrative tasks including, occupancy planning, filing work orders, use of multiple software platforms (Jenzabar, Advocate, and others) and various clerical tasks.
Serves as a student-conduct hearing officer, including: facilitation of meetings, decide responsibility, issue and follow up on sanctions, and maintain records.
Enforces and promotes Harrisburg University Student Housing policies, protocols, regulations, and PMI regulations.
Provides emergency response management and support by serving in campus professional staff on-call duty.
Assists on departmental committees and assigned projects.
Performs room safety inspections.
Be receptive and open to other duties as reasonably assigned by the University.
Qualifications:
Minimum bachelor degree in college student personnel or other related field
And/or
At least 1 (one) year on-campus residence life experience
