Sales/Business Development Job Opening in Herndon, Virginia - Mascot Books is an independent publishing company located in Herndon, Virginia. To support continued growth, we're looking to add to our business development team.
To date, we?ve published over 2,500 books in various genres, including non-fiction (sports, business, politics, self-help and memoirs), fiction, cookbooks, and children?s titles. Our authors/clients are creative and passionate about their content and they?re often industry leaders and rely on Mascot's production, marketing, and distribution expertise as they bring their books to to market.
As part of our business development team, you?ll be responsible for:
responding to web based publishing inquiries
educating prospects about the world of publishing and the company?s offerings (don?t worry, we?ll train you).
communicating (phone, email, and sometimes in person) effectively and professionally with prospects
closing deals
This is not a cold calling position.
Requirements:
We?re looking for people who are:
College graduates, preferably with some selling experience.
Publishing industry experience not necessary.
Good humans with positive, can-do attitudes.
Ready to work hard, potentially learn a new industry, and flourish in a fast-paced environment that offers ample opportunity for career advancement.
Good ... no, GREAT at listening to people and understanding their motivations.
Honest, fun to be around, and cool to work with.
Able to communicate effectively with a wide array of people, including creative types, hard-charging leaders, academics, and newsmakers.
Driven to achieve and exceed sales goals.
Able to work in our offices in Herndon, VA. No remote candidates, please.
