Sociology/Psychology Intern Job Opening in Springdale, Arkansas - Compassion House is a lifeline for girls under the age of 18 who are pregnant and need a safe place to stay and prepare for their futures. We become involved at a critical time in their lives and help them make better choices for themselves and their babies. We provide a safe home for up to 12 residents, assist in getting complete pregnancy care, offer professional counseling, provide life-skills training, promote spiritual growth and address the future needs of each resident. Compassion House is the only facility of its kind in Northwest Arkansas.
Duties:
Assist supervisor in initial evaluations of residents
Observe counselling sessions and group meetings
Assist supervisor in any administrative tasks
Help supervisor determine the individual needs (Healthcare, behavioral, education) of each resident and fulfill those needs.
Advocate for resident?s education, safety, and wellbeing.
Spend a weekend once a month living in the home the residents.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
Qualifications:
Must be pursuing a degree (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc.) in social work, case management, psychology, and other related fields of study.
Must be able to work independently, be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Must be able to work 10-15 hours a week.
Must have critical thinking, multitasking, leadership, and problem solving skills.
Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must have the ability to establish rapport with diverse audiences, and be sensitive to diverse groups.
Experience in social work, case management, or psychology preferred.
Compensation:
Intern will receive a one-time stipend of $250 for a three month internship and amazing experience to add to your resume. Intern will have the opportunity to build relationships with other organizations in the area. Any academic internship credit is the responsibility of the intern.
