Business Development Executive - (Entry-Level Sales - Govern... Job Opening in Washington, District of columbia - Bureau van Dijk has been unravelling private company information for the business community for over 25 years. Our flagship product Orbis captures information on over 200 million private and publicly listed companies, with comprehensive standardized financial information on over 20 million companies for easy cross-border comparisons. Our information includes what companies do, how they?re performing, the people that run them, financial data, legal entity details, corporate hierarchies and ownership structures, M&A activity, and built-in intelligence on sanctions, PEPs and adverse data.
As part of our double-digit growth, our DC office is adding to its small government sales team. We?re seeking a hungry, intelligent, and humble Business Development Executive (BDE) to help hunt for new business opportunities and generate meetings for a small team of senior outside sales representatives in the Government sector (US & Canada). The ideal BDE will have a hunter mentality and with a desire to learn how to sell software and information based services into government agencies.

Our program provides you with tools to strengthen your prospecting ability and develop selling skills for future revenue producing career opportunities. In this job you will spend a few hours every day in each of the following areas:
Heads-down research. You will help your team find ?best fit? agenciesto sell into. This involves a great deal of digging and problem solving to find the right people and contact information. You?ll dive into our products, our CRM, , company websites and other online resources to gather information, create lists, and draft talking points. Then you?ll reach out to key decision makers to learn about their pain points and how we can help them with their information needs.
Cold calling. Your role on the team is to fill up the sales pipeline by setting up meetings with potential clients. A major part of this job is picking up the phone and talking to new people daily, so you should be someone who is skilled at voice-to-voice communication. We don?t use canned scripts, so you?ll learn to use your research to create engaging conversations with prospects and ask deep questions about their business challenges.
Learning. Our goal is to prepare you for an outside sales job in 12-18 months. There?s a lot to absorb and achieve along the way. You?ll work closely with your sales mentor to observe client meetings, cooperate in demos, participate in account planning, and have your calls listened to. You?ll practice pitching our value proposition and navigating our products. You?ll create great emails that represent our brand and voice. You?ll also spend time in our CRM - keeping the content cleansed and maintaining detailed call notes. This role is to help you develop an approach and rhythm that will eventually make you a successful outside salesperson.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree. You have a minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business, or related field.
Work experience. You have 6 months+ of experience in a sales position, internship, or part-time job.
Research tools. Experience with Internet searching, databases, CRM upkeep, and social media are helpful.
Tenacity, creativity, communication and interpersonal skills. You should be someone who enjoys talking to people AND switching things up when you hear the word ?no?. Tech sales requires exceptional questioning ability and listening skills.
Ability to use your right and left brain. Besides being a fountain of new ideas, you?ll need to be comfortable with numbers, analysis, and financial business info.
The desire to be in sales and the ability to learn quickly. BvD is a flat and lean organization. While you will be visible with the opportunity to work closely with a one-on-one sales mentor, you should also be someone who drives their own learning through self-study. We?re looking for insatiably curious people whose drive will lead them to trade journals, blogs, networking events, and techniques to improve their ability to connect with others.

PACKAGE:
Pay and benefits. We offer a $42.6k base salary PLUS an opportunity to earn commission based on meeting generation. Great location. Our DC office is located within walking distance of public transportation & some of the best restaurants and bars in the city. You?ll occasionally travel to other BvD locations and client meetings across the country (about 5-10% of the time).
