MDGA- Cost Accountant Job Opening in Gallaway, Tennessee - Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY:
Analyzes manufacturing costs and variances. Reviews, develops, and rolls item costs. Periodically reviews Bills of Materials and Routings. Prepares summary and detailed financial reports involving financial results, manufacturing operations, inventory, purchasing, and product profitability. Performs month end accounting close. Assists Corporate Controller with monthly financial review and yearly budget. Assists Plant Management with capital expenditure decisions and operations performance reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Performs month end accounting close.
Prepares month end cost, inventory, and expense journal entries.
Reconciles Inventory, Accounts Payable, and various other Balance Sheet accounts monthly.
Reports, reviews, and analyzes Manufacturing Material, Overhead, and Labor variances.
Maintains and Develops Item Costs; Rolls Costs monthly.
Prepares Annual Budget for COGS, Material Consumption, Overhead and Labor Absorption.
Audits calculations for new product's Bills of Materials and Routings.
Performs Cost Rollups for new products.
Participates in Annual Physical Inventory and periodic cycle counts.
Assists Corporate Controller with General Ledger journal entries and financial reviews.
Calculates Profit Margin, ROI, and Payback on Capital Expenditure Requests.
Works with Plant Manager, Corporate Controller, and Department Managers on various operations reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience with advanced mathematical skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to speak effectively and make presentations before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to work well independently with little supervision and in groups.
Works as a team player and is well organized.
Regular, reliable attendance with the ability to work outside the normal work schedule is required.
Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting plus three to ten years of cost accounting experience.
Good understanding of Cost Accounting concepts such as standard costing, weighted average costing, actual costing, absorption, and variances.
Computer Skills
Advanced MS Excel; proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; MRP/ERP Systems experience; SAP experience is preferred.
Ability to create advanced MS Excel spreadsheets involving complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and links.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in smoke-free settings, primarily in an office but must also be able to work at times in manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution center environments.
Travel is minimal but may be required periodically to attend meetings, seminars, and to visit and work at other locations.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, similar to a normal office environment.
Required to frequently talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; occasionally required to bend, stoop, and climb.
Occasionally required to lift up to 35 pounds including travel bags and normal office equipment and supplies.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
