Exercise Specialist Job Opening in Albuquerque, New mexico - The Exercise Specialist implements and supervises physical exercise programs for patients.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.
Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
Monitor patient comfort level, soliciting verbal feedback
Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the New Heart community.
Monitors and adjusts exercise prescriptions for individuals based on fitness level, medication interaction and described physical or medical limitations. Completes exercise adherence and exercise response documentation timely.
Performs equipment and membership program orientations. Takes biometric measurements on new and existing members and participants. Recognizes contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient response to exercise.
Assist in daily care and cleaning of equipment of the department.
May perform group exercise activities
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family.
Interact with patients/families with a variety of developmental and sociocultural backgrounds
Provide information to patients and families in a motivating manner.
Maintain professional relationships and convey relevant information to other members of the healthcare team within the facility and any applicable referral agencies.
Initiate communications with peers about clinical priorities for care.
Reports directly to the Directory of Cardiac Rehabilitation
Requirements
Bachelor?s degree in exercise-related field
Current Basic Life Support certification at time of hire
Cardiac Rehabilitation experience preferred
Highly personable and self-motivated
Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title assignment.
