Position Overview

Protective Insurance seeks a full-time Senior SOX Auditor for its Internal Audit Department in Carmel, IN. This position, which will assume responsibility of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 (SOX) compliance work for financial controls, has visibility throughout the organization and requires interaction with multiple departments and management.
Primary Duties

Complete all SOX 404 internal control testing and documentation for assigned financial processes, including planning documents, flowcharts, walkthroughs, and tests of controls
Meet with process control owners to obtain a deep understanding of financial controls
Assist in the development of controls and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives
Obtain and review evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented
Identify and communicate issues, offering recommended solutions relevant to business and risk
Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and risk
Supervise intern and staff auditors, providing guidance and review of work, as needed
Coordinate with and assist external independent auditors as requested
Assist with other special projects on an as needed basis
Skills/Requirements

Bachelor?s degree in accounting or other related field (150 hour criteria)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or work completed toward such designations required
2 ? 4 years of audit experience in either a public accounting firm or public company strongly preferred
Exposure to financial services or property/casualty insurance industry preferred
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley required
Strong leadership skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a business group and motivate others
Detail-oriented with effective time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, required
