Overview:
The Operations Director will be responsible for the daily operations of the three business units, Los Comales, Tortilleria Los Comales and the Tortilla plant. These operations range from production, sales and distribution of baked goods and tortillas to the restaurant operation and the operation of a small grocery store co-located with the bakery.
This position functions with a high degree of autonomy. There will be daily interactions with the owners.
Expectations:
The Operations Director will work to grow each business in consensus with the owner and look for new growth opportunities. The Operations Director is expected to:
Grow the profitability of each of the three branches of the business
Prepare weekly and monthly reports that reflect the agreed to metrics
Be responsible for the profit and loss of each business
Plan and control changes to operations as required
Be responsible for all applicable codes and license requirements for each business
Set and maintain budgets for each business
Implement Inventory controls and maintain proper stock levels
Build synergy between the three business units for greater efficiency
Be involved in the hiring and firing of employees
Develop plans for each manager for personal and professional growth
Be visible to all employees on a regular basis
Work with the accounting firm in maintain proper financial controls
Personally, monitor each business unit weekly to visually inspect each location and note changes, good or bad in performance.
Qualifications:
We are interested in candidates that are experienced and can demonstrate a track record of progressive leadership development. Having a college degree in a related field is a plus.
Bilingual - Fluent in Spanish and English
Strong Microsoft Excel skills are a requirement.
An understanding of business financials is a requirement.
A solid grounding in marketing and sales is a plus.
A background that includes 5S, Lean or Six Sigma is a plus as well.
