Our client ? a prominent, privately-held, real estate development and operating company ? seeks a take-charge, hands-on VP, Accounting to oversee and manage financial reporting for this complex business. Recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of the region?s largest private companies, our client is also one of the most enduring real estate owners/developers in the region. Through strategic investment decisions and strong organic growth, the company has amassed a diverse portfolio of real estate-related businesses. The company has over a 100 active entities and has developed multiple award-winning projects. Headquartered in the metro Washington DC area, the company specializes in building, developing, servicing, managing, and leasing billions of dollars of real estate in the region.
Position:
Reporting to the CFO, the VP, Accounting is a broad role that will oversee all aspects of reporting, analysis, accounting operations, treasury, and special projects for this complex, multi-entity organization. The VP, Accounting will be responsible for leading and managing the organization?s financial control, accounting, and treasury operations. Position responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: establish and maintain the organization?s accounting principles, practices, and procedures; oversee and manage internal/external reporting; work closely with external auditors, banking, line of credit, and investment The person in this role will interact heavily across the organization and manage/mentor a team of 9+ people.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting. CPA required.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. Prior Public Accounting experience preferred. Experience in the areas of development, property management, and service operations.
Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills. This person will not only be responsible for the management and development of the accounting team, but will also interact with senior-level management and operations executives.
Impeccable integrity, diligence, and work ethic. This person will need to service multiple business lines and must focus on company results first.
