ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Project Supervisor
The employee must demonstrate a consistent ability to perform all of the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
PLANNING
Read and thoroughly understand prints, specifications, and other pertinent project related documents.
Collaborate appropriately to clarify or change print details.
Review prints to see how they relate to material books
SCHEDULING
Coordinate ALL on site activities and scheduling of company crew personnel and
Determine overall project sequence needed to do project tasks efficiently
Schedule Redi-mix concrete deliveries
Schedule fill materials
Schedule pickup & return of dumpsters
Schedule subcontractors (HVAC, welders, framers, concrete crews, insulation, etc.) to meet overall schedule needs
Provide temporary power and water from Owner sources
Schedule Test Lab to perform concrete tests (i.e. cylinders)
Coordinate ALL material delivery schedules with Management, subcontractors, and direct delivery suppliers.
Perform field takeoff on many items to order materials and maintain site inventory of stock items.
Work with HBC purchasing to set delivery dates for material for HBC crews and materials HBC provides for subs
Collaborate appropriately to check inventory availability and delivery
Schedule construction equipment needs.
Establish daily, weekly, monthly goals for all project personnel.
Assign HBC personal to specific tasks (i.e. set forms, framing, cleanup, etc.)
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Comply with all Company directives regarding reporting forms, safety practices, and employee management policies.
Inspect ALL work to ensure compliance with specifications and that the work meets Heartland standards and Owners expectations.
Monitor subs to make sure workmanship is good, bracing where needed, concrete finishes are acceptable, etc.
Control all jobsite material inventory and protection of stored materials.
Enforce jobsite organization and housekeeping practices.
Perform ?hands-on? tasks as needed to support crew and schedule needs.
Accept project assignments away from home with up to two (2) week stays before returning home.
SAFETY
On site safety representative for the company.
Provide all employees and subcontractors access to the required safety items, i.e. first aid kits, protective wear items, tie-off equipment, emergency transportation, emergency phone numbers, etc.
Watch to make sure employees and subs comply with HBC safety guidelines.
Check to see cords, hand tools, ladders, etc. are safe
Daily inspection and maintenance of ALL construction equipment.
Fill out a daily- check-off sheet for any HBC equipment
DOCUMENTATION
Use technology to effectively to manage project activities including cameras, cell phones and computers.
Take pictures, at least weekly, of the project and to document underground electrical and underground drainage work.
Review crew time sheets for correct hours and cost coding.
Report progress for scheduling and invoicing.
Maintain a daily site activity log.
Include subcontractor activities
Inspect and document all material receipts reporting quantity, quality and damage issues.
Confirm material is for the project
Gather proper information to file claims, pay freight bills, pay invoices and submit at least weekly to accounting department.
Perform walk through with Owner and/or Site Manager to create punch list at completion of building and/or project.
Maintain project ?as-built? records.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT
Manage field personnel requirements to meet goals.
Instruct crew members on how to construct project
Motivate by setting a positive example of leadership for all project personnel.
Initiate and encourage positive attitudes among ALL project personnel to develop more efficient and safe construction practices.
Promote personal initiative for all employees to develop lead personnel.
Work to get the most of their potential
RELATIONSHIPS
Establish and maintain a working relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, vendors and other project personnel.
Work to make things are as smooth as possible
Owner is happy everyone is happy
COMPANY REVENUE
Responsible for job labor productivity and monitor performance against periodic man hour reports.
Manage all company and leased equipment at the project to reduce cost of operation, maintenance and repairs.
Partner appropriately for any repairs of HBC equipment
Contact Leasing company for any repairs of leased equipment
Responsible for all subcontractor coordination to reduce overall cost and schedule impacts including evaluation of all subcontractor changes.
Keep project on schedule and make sure materials are not wasted
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
English/Spanish Bilingual language skills is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver?s license meeting restrictions imposed by Company insurance carrier.
Physical requirements:
Required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms and be able to talk and hear.
Required to walk, climb (i.e. ladders), balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Required to be able to taste and smell.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Requires vision to use close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision and to adjust focus.
Requires work in an environment often including outside weather conditions, exposed to risk of electrical shock; work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level usually loud.

Commercial and/or Ag Ground Up Construction: 7 years
Travel Superintendent: 3 years
Construction Supervison: 4 years
