Paralegal / Legal Assistant Job Opening in Huntsville, Alabama - The Uptain Group, DBA MedCo Services performs extended early out services for hospitals across the Southeast. We are based in Huntsville, AL, right across from Bridge Street, in a 100-person office.
The Waldrop & Associates division primarily files healthcare collections lawsuits against debtors. The team is composed of two attorneys, two paralegals, and one paralegal assistant.
We are seeking a paralegal assistant to perform the following primary duties:
Scanning and copying documents
Verifying civil complaints
Filing documents
Answering phone lines and directing calls
Schedules court notifications
Prepares files for court
Sorts incoming mail
Processes return mail
Verifies employment and home addresses
Works directly with process server
Handles all credit bureau disputes
Occasionally runs errands to the courthouse
Sends mail
Processes incoming faxes
Processes returned employment verification requests
Files civil complaints electronically using court filing database
Works Certificates of Judgment
Processes Release of Liens
Assists with some remit issues
Experience:
No formal schooling required
Paralegal training a plus
Prior legal experience preferred
Prior database experience a plus

The pay rate is $10.00 per hour with increase to $10.50 after 90 days with excellent performance.
