Assistant Payroll Manager Job Opening in houston, Texas - Assistant Payroll Manager ASSISTANT PAYROLL MANAGER Texas Sterling Construction Co., a heavy civil construction company founded in 1955, has a job opportunity for an experienced ASSISTANT PAYROLL MANAGER in our Houston, TX headquarters, located near the intersection of Hardy Toll Road and Richey Road. KEY TASKS: �Reconcile payroll prior to completion and validate confirmed reports. �Manage work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. �Perform daily payroll department operations. �Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance. �Executive timesheets and attendance processing and interface with payroll. �Heavy data entry. �Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits. �Perform compliance for unclaimed payroll checks. �Process weekly, biweekly and monthly checks runs for multiple states. �Process electronic or manual checks and direct bank deposits. �Update and reconcile general ledger. �Research and email appropriate audience of file issues. �Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: �2-5 years experience processing payroll; �Working knowledge of payroll best practices; �Strong knowledge of federal and state (multi-state) regulations; �Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel; �Strong work ethic, a good team player with a high degree of professionalism; �Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material; �Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate with various levels of management; �Good problem-solving and analytical skills; �Good organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills; �Ability to work in fast-paced environment. COMMENTS: This job requires frequent overtime work. Salary negotiable -- commensurate with experience level.
