POSITION SUMMARY
Custom applicators mix and apply wet and/or dry fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides via sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on farm fields and crops. Applicators will also maintain equipment and facilities, train less experienced applicators, take inventory of product and occasionally sell agronomy products.
Essential Functions:
The application of wet, dry and vapor agronomy products to soil and vegetation. Cover designated areas within fields, taking into consideration of weather conditions, amount needed and obstructions in the area. Make adjustments to hoses, nozzles and tubes to account for terrain, distribution pattern, type of material applied and velocities.
Mix chemical and fertilizers according to formulas. Estimate quantities and time needed to complete each field or assignment. Determine whether the work complies with laws, regulations and standards.
Run application machinery and responsible for its set up and maintenance. Set up machinery to direct application over designated areas. Clean and service machinery to ensure operating efficiency. Inspect machine on a daily basis. Report all machinery malfunctions and ensure that repairs are completed. Make minor repairs and adjustments in the field.
Assist in keeping all equipment and facilities in good order. During the off season, assist the mechanic with major repairs, paint equipment and facilities and perform other maintenance duties as directed. Assist in the movement and accounting of inventory.
Run other equipment such as trucks, front-end loaders, etc.
Maintain logs of driving time, acres and product applied and any other data required by management. Submit records for billing on a timely basis.
Communicate with customers regarding the application process and materials used. Answer questions or direct the customer to the appropriate person.

High school diploma or GED * Desired:
Commercial Driver?s License (CDL)
Applicator?s License
Technical school education in Agronomy
Experience:
Minimum 1-3 years experience in application equipment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of farming practices

Able to use equipment such as:
Applicator equipment and machinery
Shop tools, both mechanical and hand
Fork lifts, front-end loaders, class A and B trucks

Physically fit: able to climb, sit for long periods, bend and twist, push and pull, reach and grasp and see well
Must be able to work long hours during planting and harvesting seasons
Working:
Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Work with hazardous materials under strict safety guidelines
