The Role
We are seeking support engineers to our App Bank Operations Team supporting the EP DataLake, a platform to manage data in a central location so that anyone in the firm can rapidly query, analyse or refine the data in a standard way.
The DataLake also serves as a marketplace to connect producers and consumers with as little friction as possible. All data is stored securely in the Data Lake and entitled at the dataset (equivalent to a database table) level natively.
The Data Lake is not about one particular technology, rather, it's an infrastructure to accumulate and host data, refine it, classify it and then make it accessible for queries rapidly using the appropriate technology.
The environment is challenging and results-oriented where strong teamwork between Business Applications teams and Technology Infrastructure teams is critical for our success.
The DataLake support team supports application development teams firm wide and participates in projects build out.
Responsibilities & Duties
To work within global ABO team to service all aspects of DataLake whilst adhering to in-house standards.
Tasks primarily include
Provide 24/7 support for Datalake environment
Process alerts to resolve, manage escalations as appropriate
Does metrics, reporting
Dynamically contributes to automation efforts
Perform Root Cause Analysis, identify strategic solutions and drive through implementation
Actively participates in other alert reduction efforts
Provides support for technical ad-hoc issues raised by Application Development user base through various work delivery mechanisms
Provides end-to-end provisioning services on onboarding and the infrastructure components
Actively participates and provide support on DC move/migrations, Building power downs, BCP test, and readiness.
Desired Skills
Knowledge and experience in Java, Hadoop, and SQL
Three plus years of hands on experience in JAVA supporting large scale implementation
Expertise in Object Oriented Programming & Relational Databases
Sound knowledge on Unix OS, preferably RedHat Linux
Experience with Hadoop and Big Data tools is a plus
Knowledge in implementing data transformations in Spark, Hive, SQL and/or Python is a plus
Strong technical experience in designing and implementing solutions for data-driven organizational transformation
Knowledge in software development and core programming concepts
Strong working knowledge on production support, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
Comfortable working in highly dynamic and rapid development environment
Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
Excellent communication skills including experience speaking to technical and business audiences and working globally
Strong team player, good communication, and interpersonal skills, results oriented and highly flexible
