Protection and Controls Engineer Job Opening in raleigh, North Carolina - Protection and Controls Engineer Tech USA has an immediate need for a Protection and Controls Engineer to service the Raleigh, NC area. this will be a contract position and expected to last 7 months. - Provide engineering related design, analysis, and studies for domestic or international projects. - Electrical engineer with experience leading design teams in the implementation of utility monitoring, protection and control system upgrades for Smart Grid projects. - Experience required with the application, upgrade, and testing of monitoring, protection and control schemes. - Candidate must be knowledgeable in transmission line, transformer and distribution metering methods. - Experience required in electric utility substation integration, automation and protection system upgrade, design, documentation, installation and testing. - This includes conceptual and detailed design including schematics, wiring, point lists, and utility standard documentation. Job Responsibilities: - Experience required in Ethernet networking, serial communications, and multi-drop communications. - Experience required in retrofitting electro-mechanical relays with microprocessor based relays in existing substations. - Experience desired with programming of microprocessor based relays. - Previous experience working with utilities engineering, operations, and testing departments is considered a plus. - Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work for an assigned portion of a major project or the total project of moderate scope. - Supervises the engineering work of various contractors, as well as assigned Drafters, Designers, and subordinate Engineers. - This includes work assignments, scheduling and review. - Develops alternate methods, techniques or design concepts as required to resolve unique design problems. - Coordinates with project managers and client personnel to review designs, address construction issues, and resolve areas of concern. - Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements Requirements: - Minimum of 8 years of experience performing protection and control engineering related duties, as well as management duties. - Must have the ability to work in a team environment to meet schedule deadlines and budget targets. - Attention to detail with good communication, skills both written and verbal, is required. - EIT or PE preferred - The applicant must have the ability to work in a team environment to meet schedule deadlines and budget targets. - Ability to travel up to 25% of the time Please send resumes to Carrie with Tech USA at or call . raleigh nc north carolina Phone:
