Position Details
AACOM is seeking a Vice President of Finance and Operations. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience utilizing technology-based solutions to prepare and deliver management reports, conduct financial analysis, guide management on sound fiscal responsibility, and establish internal controls.
The Vice President of Finance and Operations has direct responsibility for leading and overseeing all aspects of AACOM?s Finance, IT (Information Technology) and office management functions. This position serves as a key member of AACOM's executive team,plans and implements financial strategies, participates in corporate governance and manages the team of accounting professionals that support the organization?s success.
The VP of Finance and Operations will be responsible for developing and implementing AACOM?s overall financial and IT strategic plan as well as coordinating financial aspects of the organization?s strategic plan alongside other key AACOM Leadership. The Vice President oversees the entire budget process, working closely with the CEO and Senior Department Leadership to develop a budget that addresses AACOM?s fiscal realities as well as aligns with AACOM?s strategic goals and objectives. The Vice President oversees a critical aspect of strategic planning and goal setting by clearly projecting operational budget plans in addition to providing guidance, insights, analysis and accurate reporting on the financial standing of the organization; this includes operational and other segments of the strategic planning process, proposed goals and objectives as well as operational planning.
This position has direct oversight of AACOM?s IT function. The VP will be performing a critical role of overseeing the strategic and technical management of the IT department. This includes selecting and implementing technology that will streamline internal operations while improving the user experience and maintaining internal customer (user) satisfaction. In addition to developing and implementing processes and procedures that will ensure infrastructure security and accurate IT asset management. The VP will also oversee and optimize the strategic benefits of AACOM?s technology by ensuring it is up to date, all technical and help desk issues are quickly resolved and all users are adequately trained to effectively use the technology.
The Vice President serves as the company source of expertise and guidance on all financial, budget, IT and various office management operational issues which requires working closely with the President and CEO, the Board of Directors as well as AACOM?s Finance and Audit Committee on budget and revenue estimates serving as Financial Liaison to these groups, the Council of Fiscal Officers as well as other member groups and councils. The VP will provide monthly and annual financial statements, collate financial reporting materials and oversee all financial, project and program accounting and reports to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting; including providing these reports regularly to the President and CEO. The Vice President must be able to clearly and effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to all levels of the organization including internal and external individuals, councils or groups and must be able to make financial concepts and information clear and comprehensible to non-financial individuals. In addition to these duties, the VP, Finance and Operations role will manage relationships with outside counsel, financial advisors, banks and audit firms.
The VP of Finance and Operations is responsible for developing, implementing and enforcing all policies and procedures within his/her function area to ensure that AACOM?s activities will effectively support the organization and ensure financial integrity in conjunction with best practices for accounting and financial management to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and requirements. The Vice President also serves as the focal point for the annual financial audit process and serve as liaison to AACOM?s external auditors, as well as oversees any other financial audits, reviews and/or official inquiries from any state, federal or local government agency as needed.
Additionally, the Vice President manages AACOM?s cash flow and cash flow forecasting including all analysis and reporting. The Vice President oversees the financial management, reporting, contracts and contract management systems and processes and ensures adherence to contract and other billing and collection schedules, timely processing of accounts payable and receivable; updates and implements all business and accounting to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the integrity of AACOMs financial practices, data and reports.
This position is responsible for creating an efficient, effective and highly functional team and for supporting employee development by providing training, coaching, development and guidance to employees.
Qualifications
The Vice President will be a seasoned and mature leader with a degree in Accounting, Finance from an accredited university. CPA or advanced degree and/or equivalent experience in non-profit accounting/finance training preferred
Minimum of 15 years in a combination of the above areas in which at least 5 years must be held in an executive leadership position equivalent to Vice President ideally in a not-for-profit organization.
Broad financial and budgeting skills coupled with the experience to effective lead the financial function.
Knowledge of health care, health care education, or admissions services strongly preferred.
Demonstrated work with financial databases and reports that provide information and guidance critical to effective organizational operations.
Familiarity and demonstrated experience leading an IT function at the strategic management level.
Office management experience developing and leading an effective office support team.
Experience with health care policy or health related education a plus but not required.
Experience managing the audit process and effectively resolving audit related issues.
Excellent management skills and the ability to influence others, at the executive and management levels.
Strong strategic planning and management skills coupled with the ability to develop a plan and motivate a team of professionals to implement effectively, including the development of a well-organized, on-time, functional system of accounts payable/receivable.
Ability to develop and advance creative solutions to business challenges.
Capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
A consensus builder with an ability to develop trust and credibility among colleagues at all levels including, board members, senior management and other health care organization leaders.
