Sales Engineer Job Opening in Boston, Massachusetts - LightRiver Technologies is an optical networking technology integrator. We support clients across the US who are deploying Metro, Regional, and National private optical telecommunications networks. LightRiver provides design, deployment, testing, and training capability to commercial network operators, power/water/gas utilities, state/local governments, data center operators, and content service providers.
We are looking to add a Sales Engineer with extensive sales and network design experience. Sales Engineers work in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and advocate for our solutions. Sales Engineers work with clients to completely understand their business and technical needs, and synthesize multi-product and multi-technology solutions to fit their networking needs. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and solution positioning to both business and technical users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to understand complex business requirements, and translate these demands into technology designs and complete solutions
Responsible for development and delivery of solution presentations to customers
Responsible for representing technology and solutions at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
Ability to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Responsible for the development and management of accurate solution design components -- Bill of Materials information and pricing models
DESIRED SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in optical technology sales with in-depth knowledge of cutting edge technologies. Must be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate complex technical issues to an audience with a broad range of technical skills. Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering or equivalent
+5 years? experience in design and/or operations of commercial carrier or critical infrastructure telecommunication networks
Optical manufacturer technical marketing, engineering, or sales experience
+5 years hands on experience with advanced optical networking technologies
Optical network communications design
Traditional optical (SONET) networking
C/D WDM systems, ROADM, Coherent optical technologies
Packet-optical network design and optimization
Project management in a commercial carrier environment
Excellent MS-Office skills
Ability to develop compelling presentation materials in MS PowerPoint
Ability to deliver clear and comprehensive technical proposals in MS Word
Ability to create and manipulate complex financial models in MS Excel
Ability to travel nationwide, up to 75% of the time.
Advanced optical certifications a plus (OC-A, OC-E, etc.)
Experience and familiarity of our solutions and line of business a plus
