Software Engineer - Eglin AFB Job Opening in Eglin AFB, Florida - Torch is currently looking to fill the following position: Software Engineer - Mid Level
Responsibilities:
This position involves supporting the Lethality, Vulnerability, and Survivability Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RWML). Duties include programming support, configuring and maintaining all aspects of Linux workstations and Linux clusters, assisting the scientific and engineering staff with supercomputing on large scale platforms (100,000 cores), and assisting with the development, integration, and porting of various large scale simulation tools, applications, and frameworks. Candidate responsibilities will range from Linux system administration to serving as a software engineer supporting Air Force Laboratory M&S efforts. AFRL/RWML is currently the lead Air Force organization developing advanced physics tools for weapon design and lethality analysis, as well as developing and supporting large-scale distributed simulation architectures that link various geographic locations of the Air Force Research Laboratory. The incumbent will be part of a highly skilled government and contractor research team that uses and develops highly complex scientific and engineering applications. Candidate will also support the engineering staff in the use of Linux computers, engineering and physics codes, and other tools to perform analysis for various Air Force weapons programs.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline plus 3 to 10 years' of relevant technical experience is required. Past experience with the Linux operating system, computer hardware, software engineering principles, and Object Oriented Programming is required. Familiarity with other computing languages (FORTRAN, C) is not required but highly desired. Prior knowledge of the specific codes and frameworks in use are not required, but will require a strong desire to learn. Security+ certification sponsored by Computing Technology Industry Association required.
The Position requires that candidate possess a current SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
