PRN Staff Nurse Job Opening in Cartersville, Georgia - Eastchester Family Services (EFS) is a community-based human services organization. We are looking for an experienced, PRN Staff Nurse to provide nursing assessments and medication management for adults with behavioral health or substance abuse disorders throughout the Metro-Atlanta area. The ideal candidate will have psychiatric nursing experience, have a Nursing degree and be licensed to practice in Georgia.
Our immediate need is for a PRN Staff Nurse to service the Cartersville area (Tuesdays and Wednesdays only) and one for Metro-Atlanta. Both of these are contract, PRN positions.
Responsibilities
Perform physical nursing assessment and uses the information to develop a preliminary nursing plan
Collect vital signs and specimens (urine, saliva, or hair) for specific testing
Conduct and monitor ADLs (Activity of Daily Living Skills) and provide skills training as needed
Provide psycho-education regarding mental illness and the effects and side effects of prescribed medications
Conduct symptom check-up and management efforts directed to help each client identify/target the symptoms and occurrence patterns of his or her mental illness and develop methods (internal, behavioral, or adaptive) to help lessen the effects
Generous psychological support to clients, both on a planned and as-needed basis, to help them accomplish their personal goals, to cope with the stressors of day-to-day living, and to recover
May teach in an individual or group setting behavioral symptom management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced by medication and/or adaptation/coping techniques for internal and external stresses
Provide medical documentation to accompany consumers on medical appointments
Provide education about medication, benefits and risk, and obtain informed consent to staff and clients
Assess and document the client's mental illness symptoms and behavior in response to medication and shall monitor and document medication side effects
Recommend medication adjustment to physician
Administer medications per state guidelines to consumers for which they were prescribed
Collaborate closely with the Team Psychiatrist in assessment, treatment planning, medication issues, general healthcare, medical and psychosocial approaches, and a review of each client's progress and treatment
